The Heart of the World: A Journey to Tibet's Lost Paradise by Ian Baker

The myth of Shangri-la originates in Tibetan Buddhist beliefs in beyul, or hidden lands, sacred sanctuaries that reveal themselves to devout pilgrims and in times of crisis.
